National Champion Arhant Joshi Credits Family Support for His Rise in Freestyle Skating

National freestyle skating champion Arhant Joshi says unwavering family support and the freedom to pursue his passion have been the driving forces behind his remarkable 14-year journey, inspiring young athletes across India.

National freestyle skating champion Arhant Joshi has credited his family for playing a pivotal role in shaping his successful sporting career, saying their unwavering encouragement allowed him to pursue competitive skating without hesitation. Reflecting on his 14-year journey in the sport, Joshi said his parents always encouraged him and his siblings to follow their passions rather than imposing career choices.

Speaking about his early years, Joshi recalled that his interest in skating was nurtured by a supportive family environment. He said his father, a former national-level hockey player, understood the discipline, sacrifices and perseverance required to excel in competitive sports. That sporting background, he noted, gave his parents the confidence to support his ambitions from a young age.

Over the years, Joshi has emerged as one of India’s leading freestyle skaters, building an impressive record at both national and international levels. His achievements include a gold medal at the 2022 National Games in Ahmedabad, a bronze medal at the 2023 Asian Championship, multiple podium finishes at National Championships, and medals at international open competitions held in Singapore.

His outstanding performances also earned him the Shiv Chhatrapati Award, Maharashtra’s highest sporting honour, recognising his excellence in roller skating. More recently, he was felicitated by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in recognition of this prestigious achievement, adding another milestone to his distinguished sporting career.

Despite the accolades, Joshi believes success is built on far more than talent alone. According to him, years of disciplined training, consistent hard work, resilience and the constant encouragement of family have been the true pillars of his achievements.

As freestyle skating continues to gain popularity across the country, Joshi hopes his journey encourages more parents to support their children’s sporting aspirations. He believes that when young athletes are given the freedom to pursue their dreams with the backing of their families, they gain the confidence needed to excel and proudly represent India on national and international platforms.
