Petrol Dealers Give MNGL 24-Hour Ultimatum Over Low CNG Gas Pressure in Pune
Pune’s CNG stations face persistent low gas pressure from MNGL, causing long queues, traffic congestion and heavy losses, prompting dealers to threaten a sales suspension within 24 hours.

The Petrol Dealers Association Pune (PDAP) has raised serious concerns over persistently low gas pressure in the Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) pipeline network, an issue that has disrupted several CNG stations across the city for over a month.
The prolonged problem has resulted in long vehicle queues, severe traffic congestion, reduced dispensing capacity at stations, considerable financial losses for dealers, and major inconvenience for thousands of CNG users across Pune.
According to the association, MNGL has failed to issue any official communication to either consumers or government authorities despite the issue dragging on for weeks. As a consequence, CNG dealers say they have been left to face the brunt of public frustration, with some even facing action from police and traffic authorities over congestion outside their stations.
PDAP clarified that the disruption stems entirely from inadequate gas pressure in the distribution network and is in no way linked to any shortcoming on the part of CNG dealers.
The association has called on MNGL to immediately restore normal gas pressure, issue a public advisory clarifying the situation, and formally inform the District Collector, District Supply Officer, Pune Police and Traffic Police that the ongoing congestion and operational issues stem directly from the drop in gas pressure rather than dealer negligence.
Dhruv Ruparel, President of the Petrol Dealers Association Pune, said dealers have been bearing the cost of a failure entirely outside their control for over a month, facing financial losses, public anger and police action while MNGL stayed silent. He said it was unfair for dealers to be blamed for an infrastructure shortfall, and demanded that MNGL restore pressure, acknowledge the problem publicly, inform authorities that dealers are not at fault, and take full responsibility for the situation.
PDAP warned that if MNGL does not restore normal gas pressure within the next 24 hours, CNG dealers across affected areas will be forced to suspend CNG sales until the matter is resolved, stating they cannot keep absorbing losses, public anger and administrative action caused by MNGL’s distribution shortcomings indefinitely.
