Power Electricity tariffs across Maharashtra will be reduced from April 1, offering relief to consumers, especially low-usage households, as revised rates lower per-unit charges across slabs.

Mumbai | 26 March, 2026: In a major relief for electricity consumers, the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved a reduction in power tariffs across the state, with new rates set to come into effect from April 1. The decision follows proposals submitted by key power distribution companies, including Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, BEST Undertaking, Adani Electricity, and Tata Power.

Under the revised tariff structure, consumers across all usage slabs will benefit from reduced rates. For households consuming 0 to 100 units, the per-unit cost has been lowered to ₹4.30 from ₹4.76, marking a 9.7 percent reduction. Similarly, the 101 to 300 units slab will now be charged at ₹7.10 per unit, reflecting a 10.8 percent decrease.

For higher consumption brackets, the 301 to 500 units slab will see a notable cut of nearly 14 percent, bringing the rate down to ₹11.64 per unit from ₹13.55. Consumers using more than 500 units will also see a revised rate of ₹12.64 per unit. The move is expected to benefit millions of consumers across Maharashtra, including those in Mumbai and regions served by MSEDCL. Officials noted that the reduction comes at a crucial time, as electricity usage typically rises during the peak summer months. The revised tariffs are likely to ease financial pressure on households, particularly middle- and lower-income groups, by reducing monthly electricity bills starting April.
