Pune | December 3, 2025: Pune — Rail travel across the region will see major disruption in January 2026 as the railways begin doubling work on the Daund–Kashti stretch of the Daund–Manmad route. A revised traffic block has been issued for 4 to 25 January, split into two phases: Pre–Non Interlocking work until 23 January, followed by Non-Interlocking work on 24 and 25 January.

The project will affect more than 120 train services passing through the corridor. Several long-distance trains will face cancellations on select days, while multiple passenger and DEMU services operating between Pune, Baramati and Daund will remain suspended through the block period. A number of express services running toward Solapur and beyond will also be disrupted.

Apart from cancellations, the updated plan includes diversions via alternate routes, short-termination at intermediate stations and revised departure timings for several trains. Some services will originate from stations like Khadki instead of Daund to ease operational pressure and maintain movement in adjoining sections.

Passengers have been urged to plan their journeys well in advance and verify the latest schedule updates to avoid inconvenience. The railways have advised travellers to pay close attention to revised halts, changed timings and diverted routes, especially for long-distance and connecting journeys.

Although the disruptions are expected to cause temporary difficulty for daily commuters and long-distance passengers alike, officials have stated that the doubling project will significantly improve capacity on the route. Once completed, it is expected to reduce congestion, improve punctuality and support the rising demand for rail movement across the region.
