The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for several districts in Northeast Maharashtra from July 12 to July 15, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall and the possibility of weather-related disruptions. At the same time, Pune district is expected to experience relatively stable weather, with no heavy rain alert issued until July 15.

According to the IMD, the southwest monsoon remains active over Maharashtra and is likely to bring intermittent heavy showers across the northeastern region of the state. Authorities have cautioned that the forecast rainfall could result in localized flooding, waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic disruptions, and lightning, particularly in vulnerable districts.

The weather department has advised residents in the affected areas to remain alert and closely monitor official forecasts over the coming days. Motorists have been urged to exercise caution while travelling, especially on roads prone to waterlogging, as heavy rainfall may reduce visibility and disrupt normal traffic movement. Citizens have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall and stay away from open spaces, trees, and electric poles during thunderstorms.

While the alert is focused on Northeast Maharashtra, Pune district is likely to witness partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall at isolated places over the next few days. The absence of a heavy rain warning is expected to provide relief to residents and thousands of Warkaris participating in the Ashadhi Wari, allowing smoother travel and better logistical arrangements across the city.

The IMD has reiterated that monsoon conditions remain dynamic and weather patterns may change rapidly. Residents across Maharashtra are therefore encouraged to stay informed through official weather bulletins and follow safety advisories issued by local authorities to minimize risks during the ongoing monsoon season.
