Administrative approval granted for ₹3,954 crore Nashik Ring Road civil works and several infrastructure projects ahead of Simhastha 2027.

Pune, March 10, 2026: In a significant step towards strengthening infrastructure ahead of the upcoming Simhastha Kumbh Mela in 2027, administrative approval of ₹3,954 crore has been granted for the civil construction of the 69.15-kilometre Nashik Ring Road project. The decision was taken during a review meeting of the Nashik–Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) chaired by Nashik Divisional Commissioner Dr Pravin Gedam. The project had earlier received administrative approval for land acquisition, and the latest clearance will allow the civil construction work to move forward. The proposed ring road will begin at DRDO Junction on National Highway 60, circle the entire city and reconnect to the same highway corridor, forming an important traffic loop around Nashik. Planned as a four-to-six lane corridor, the project will include five major bridges, two railway overbridges, eight vehicular underpasses and service roads, creating a major transport network that will connect four national highways and four state highways. Officials believe the project will significantly reduce congestion within Nashik city and ensure smoother mobility during Simhastha as well as in the long term.

Development works in the Trimbakeshwar region, including improvements to the small and large Pradakshina routes around Brahmagiri hill and eco-tourism development at Anjaneri, have been sanctioned with a budget of ₹23.12 crore. Authorities have also approved ₹44.53 crore for the construction of a 300-metre ghat on the right bank at the Godavari–Nandini river confluence near Takli, which is expected to strengthen riverfront infrastructure and improve access for pilgrims visiting the area.

Additionally, ₹20.22 crore has been sanctioned for road development from the Panchavati area’s Karma Heights to Tapovan STP up to Survey No. 357 and Nandur village, improving connectivity for residents and visitors. To ensure scientific and efficient traffic planning for the massive gathering expected during Simhastha, ₹10.24 crore has been approved for preparing an Integrated Mobility Plan through the Indian Institute of Management Nagpur, which will use data-driven planning to manage traffic and crowd movement during the festival. Authorities have also approved ₹1.72 crore for relocation and strengthening of the Trimbakeshwar sub-district hospital, including lease continuation and necessary infrastructure improvements. Other development works include ₹27.47 crore for projects at Kawnai (Kapildhara Tirth), ₹24.10 crore for development at Chakratirth in the Chakore–Beje area, and ₹21.91 crore for infrastructure works at Taked, all aimed at improving facilities in key pilgrimage locations.
