Anti-corruption officials in Nanded apprehended a school teacher and a support staff member while allegedly taking a bribe of ₹400 for correcting a student’s date of birth on official records

Nanded | 04 February, 2026:In a sting operation conducted by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), a school teacher and a support staff member were caught red-handed on Wednesday while allegedly accepting a bribe for correcting a student’s date of birth in official documents, police said.

According to officials, the incident took place at the Mahatma Kabir Vidyalaya in Sahyog Nagar, where the teacher and a peon demanded ₹400 from a parent to make the date of birth correction on school records a service that should be processed without any fee or influence.

The ACB received a complaint alleging that the officials were seeking money in exchange for altering the official date of birth. A trap was laid based on the complaint, leading to the duo being apprehended in the act of accepting cash, a senior police officer said.

The teacher and peon were taken into custody and will be produced in court soon, where charges under sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act are expected to be filed. Authorities said seized cash and other evidence will form part of the case file.

Sources noted that such cases where public servants exploit their position to demand bribes for routine administrative corrections erode public trust and violate ethical norms expected of government employees. Further investigation into whether any other staff were involved is underway.
