Centre seeks report on TCS Nashik harassment case as multiple FIRs, arrests and serious workplace misconduct allegations surface.
April 16, 2026 | Pune: A major controversy surrounding Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in Nashik has now reached the national level, with the central government seeking a detailed report following serious allegations of workplace harassment involving women employees. The development comes as the case continues to expand, with multiple complaints, arrests, and investigations revealing a potentially deeper and systemic issue within the organisation’s BPO unit.
According to reports, the controversy began with a single complaint of harassment, but soon escalated into a wider investigation after more victims came forward. Authorities have now registered multiple FIRs, indicating that the issue may not be isolated but part of a larger pattern of misconduct.
The allegations include sexual harassment, inappropriate behaviour at the workplace, and coercion, with several women employees claiming they were subjected to repeated misconduct over a period of time. Investigators have suggested that some of the accused may have operated in a coordinated manner, targeting vulnerable employees within the organisation.

So far, several individuals have been arrested, and more are under investigation. Police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the matter in detail. In a significant step, even undercover officers were reportedly deployed to gather evidence and understand the working environment inside the facility.
The seriousness of the case has prompted involvement beyond state authorities. The Centre has now sought a comprehensive report to understand the extent of the allegations and whether there were lapses in workplace safety mechanisms. The move signals growing concern at the highest levels about employee protection and compliance with laws such as the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) Act.
Meanwhile, TCS has stated that it is treating the matter with utmost seriousness. The company has suspended the accused employees and initiated an internal investigation. Senior leadership has termed the allegations “deeply concerning” and assured full cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
The controversy has also raised broader questions about corporate accountability and internal grievance redressal systems. Reports suggest that complaints may have been ignored or not acted upon promptly, which, if proven, could indicate significant lapses in following mandatory workplace safety protocols.
Experts believe that the case could have wider implications for India’s IT sector. Increased scrutiny from regulators, clients, and stakeholders is likely, especially regarding how companies handle harassment complaints and ensure employee safety.
