April 29, 2026 | Thane: The recent attack on a security guard in Mira Road has sparked serious concerns after Devendra Fadnavis stated that the suspect was allegedly driven by a radical motive linked to “jihad.” The incident, which initially appeared to be an isolated act of violence, is now being investigated from a broader security perspective. Speaking at a press conference in Barshi, Solapur district, Fadnavis revealed that preliminary findings suggest the accused had intentions of targeting individuals from other communities. He described the suspect as having extremist leanings and confirmed that the individual had spent a few years in the United States before recently returning to India.

Authorities have reportedly seized objectionable materials, including books and other items, from the suspect residence, which are now part of the ongoing investigation. The case is currently being jointly probed by local police and the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) to determine whether the suspect was acting alone or was influenced or guided by a larger network.

Officials are also trying to identify any potential handlers or links that may have played a role in radicalizing the suspect. The CM emphasized that uncovering the mastermind behind the act remains a key priority for law enforcement agencies.

The incident has heightened concerns about internal security and the possible spread of extremist ideologies. Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
