NITES President Advocate Harpreet Singh Saluja Special career counselling session at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Khadakwasla inspires Class 12 students to explore law as a respected and powerful profession
Wednesday 29 April 2026: Advocate Harpreet Singh Saluja, Bombay High Court Advocate and President of Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), addressed the Class 12 students of all streams at PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, Pune, during a special career guidance and counselling session on the topic “Future in Law.”

During the session, he highlighted that a large number of students, especially from Science, Commerce, and Humanities (Arts) streams, are often unaware that law is one of the most promising, respected, and powerful career options available after Class 12. He explained that many students and families still believe that law is only meant for Arts students or is limited only to becoming a courtroom lawyer, which is a common misconception.
He guided the students on what law actually means in day-to-day life, the difference between rules and laws, why legal awareness is important, and how law protects the rights of every citizen in ordinary situations. Through practical and relatable examples, students were made to understand that law is present everywhere—at home, in school, on roads, in workplaces, and in society.
He further explained how students from all streams can pursue legal education after Class 12 through 5-year integrated law courses such as B.A. LL.B., BBA LL.B., and B.Com LL.B., and also informed them about important entrance examinations like CLAT, MH-CET Law, AILET, and SLAT. Special emphasis was given on internships, practical exposure, and the importance of starting career planning early.

Students were also informed about the wide range of career opportunities available after completing law, including Independent Advocacy, Judiciary, Government Legal Services, Corporate In-House Counsel roles, Teaching and Academic Careers, and Civil Services through UPSC. He explained that law is not just a profession to earn money, but a powerful medium to protect rights, ensure justice, and serve society.
A detailed question and answer session was also conducted where students actively participated with great enthusiasm and asked thoughtful questions regarding law entrance exams, judicial services, corporate law opportunities, litigation practice, and long-term career growth in the legal profession.
Principal Mrs. Jaya Rajappan, while addressing the students, emphasized that career decisions should never be taken under social pressure, comparison, or the influence of what others are choosing. She encouraged students to identify their own strengths, interests, and passion before selecting a profession. She said that true success does not come from simply choosing a popular career, but from becoming excellent in whichever field one chooses.

She motivated students to develop discipline, confidence, and consistency in their academic journey and reminded them that every profession, whether law, medicine, engineering, teaching, or civil services, becomes meaningful only when pursued with sincerity and dedication. She also appreciated the importance of such awareness sessions in helping students make informed decisions for their future.
Senior Teacher Shri Sanjay Saitwal, while interacting with the students, highlighted the importance of awareness and early career planning at the school level. He said that many students remain confused about career options simply because they are not exposed to the right guidance at the right time. He encouraged students to ask questions, seek clarity, and remain open to opportunities beyond conventional career paths.

He further stated that law is not only a profession but also a field that builds confidence, leadership, analytical thinking, and a strong sense of justice. He advised students to remain disciplined, curious, and focused, and to understand that the right career is not the one chosen by society, but the one where they can perform with excellence and responsibility.
Shri Amritesh Mishra was also present during the session.
The interaction was highly engaging, meaningful, and inspiring. The session served as an important platform to create awareness among students about legal education and to help them understand that law is a career of dignity, responsibility, and social impact.
