New Delhi | May 15, 2026 The investigation into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak has uncovered a crucial lead involving an MBBS student from Kerala who allegedly forwarded a “guess paper” to acquaintances in Rajasthan days before the national medical entrance examination. The development has significantly widened the scope of the ongoing probe now being handled by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

According to investigators, the student, who was already studying medicine in Kerala and was not appearing for the NEET examination, reportedly received a PDF file containing suspected exam questions on May 2 and forwarded it to his father in Rajasthan. The father, who runs a hostel for coaching students in Sikar, allegedly shared the material with local teachers after the examination, leading to suspicions of a possible paper leak.

Authorities later discovered that more than 100 questions in the circulated “guess paper” closely matched the actual NEET-UG 2026 examination paper conducted on May 3. Reports suggest that 45 chemistry questions and nearly 90 biology questions showed strong similarities with the final exam.

The Rajasthan Police Special Operations Group (SOG), which initially handled the case, traced possible links spanning Rajasthan, Haryana, Maharashtra, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana before the investigation was officially transferred to the CBI.

Investigators suspect that the leaked material may have been sold through an organised network operating under the guise of “guess papers,” with some reports claiming students paid between ₹10 lakh and ₹25 lakh for access to the questions.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) subsequently cancelled the NEET-UG 2026 examination amid mounting evidence of irregularities and announced that revised examination dates would be declared later. The controversy has triggered widespread concern among lakhs of medical aspirants and raised serious questions about the security and transparency of India’s competitive examination system.

The CBI is now investigating the possible involvement of a larger interstate network, including the role of coaching operators, students and potential insiders connected to the examination process.
