Wellington| June 4, 2026: In a significant announcement that has electrified the global cricketing community, New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has unveiled the full itinerary for the Indian cricket team’s upcoming tour. Running from late October through early December, this grueling 40-day tour will feature a total of 12 international matches, comprising five T20 Internationals, five One Day Internationals (ODIs), and two marquee Test matches. According to ICC records, this represents the largest volume of international fixtures ever hosted by New Zealand in a single bilateral series, establishing this tour as a historic milestone for the host nation.

The tour is set to commence on October 22 with the first of five T20Is in Christchurch. Following the T20 series, the action will transition to the ODI format, with matches scheduled across various venues, including Auckland, Wellington, Hamilton, and Tauranga, spanning from November 4 to November 15. The most anticipated segment of the tour, however, is the return of Test cricket between these two nations in New Zealand. This will be the first time in seven years that India has played a Test series on New Zealand soil, with the last such encounter occurring in 2019.

The two-match Test series is scheduled to begin on November 19 in Wellington, with the final showdown taking place in Christchurch starting November 27. For the Indian squad, currently led by stars such as Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the tour presents a rigorous test of their adaptability in challenging overseas conditions. With limited-overs formats providing a lead-in, the transition to the Test format within a three-day window will require peak physical and strategic discipline.
