National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval will be honoured with the prestigious Lokmanya Tilak Award at a ceremony in Pune on August 1, recognising his exceptional contribution to national security and distinguished service to the country. The award will be presented by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, adding significance to one of Maharashtra’s most respected annual honours.

The Lokmanya Tilak Award is conferred every year on individuals who have made remarkable contributions to the nation through exemplary leadership, public service and commitment to national development. Named after freedom fighter, social reformer and nationalist leader Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak, the award is regarded as one of the country’s prominent civilian recognitions.

This year’s selection of Ajit Doval acknowledges his decades-long contribution to India’s national security framework. Serving as the National Security Advisor since 2014, Doval has played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s strategic and security policies, handling key national security challenges and strengthening India’s internal and external security mechanisms.

The award ceremony, scheduled to be held in Pune, is expected to witness the presence of senior political leaders, government officials, dignitaries and invited guests from across the country. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend the event as the chief guest and formally present the honour to Doval.

The Lokmanya Tilak Award has, over the years, been presented to several eminent personalities from diverse fields, including public administration, science, social service, governance and national leadership, recognising their lasting contribution to India’s progress.

Organisers said the award continues to uphold the ideals and vision of Lokmanya Tilak by honouring individuals whose work reflects dedication, integrity and service to the nation. The ceremony on August 1 is expected to celebrate Ajit Doval’s contribution to safeguarding the country’s interests and his longstanding role in strengthening India’s national security architecture.
