May 9, 2026 | Pune:The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education declared the Class 10 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination results on Friday, with the overall pass percentage standing at 92.09 percent. The result marks a decline of 2.01 percent compared to last year, making it the lowest SSC performance recorded in the last five years.

Education officials attributed the drop largely to the strict implementation of anti-cheating measures during the examinations. Authorities deployed flying squads across districts and ensured extensive CCTV surveillance at examination centres to maintain transparency and fairness in the evaluation process. Despite the dip in overall results, girls once again outperformed boys, continuing the long-standing trend in Maharashtra board examinations. The pass percentage of girls remained 5.40 percent higher than that of boys.

Out of more than 15.42 lakh students who appeared for the examination, over 14.20 lakh students successfully cleared the SSC board exams. However, the number of high scorers witnessed a sharp decline this year. Only 179 students secured a perfect 100 percent score, compared to 211 students last year. Similarly, students scoring above 90 percent dropped significantly to around 65,000 from nearly 82,000 in 2025.

Region-wise, the Konkan division emerged as the top-performing region with an impressive 97.62 percent result, while the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division recorded the lowest pass percentage at 88.41 percent. The Pune division registered a strong 94.24 percent result, with Pune district leading within the division.

Board Chairman Dr. Trigun Kulkarni stated that supplementary examinations for unsuccessful students would be conducted in June and July to ensure academic continuity and timely admissions for higher secondary education.
