The Maharashtra government has announced new district-level helplines and dedicated administrative cells to assist citizens in securing Kunbi caste certificates, following a high-level review by the Maratha Reservation Committee.
Mumbai| June 4, 2026: In a significant move to expedite the reservation process, the Maharashtra government has officially initiated the setup of dedicated cells and district-level helplines to assist members of the Maratha community in obtaining Kunbi caste certificates. The announcement came following a high-level review meeting led by the Maratha Reservation Sub-committee Chairperson, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, at the Mantralaya on Wednesday. To address immediate public grievances, a central helpline, 9326562815, has been made operational at the state headquarters to guide applicants through the complexities of documentation and verification during office hours.

During the meeting, Minister Vikhe-Patil underscored the government’s firm commitment to fulfilling its promises regarding Maratha reservation within established timelines. He directed all administrative departments to work in close coordination, warning that any negligence or delays in processing applications would lead to strict disciplinary action against the responsible officials. The government has prioritized the immediate compilation of data regarding the 13 lakh certificates already distributed under the Shinde Committee’s oversight, as well as those issued prior to the committee’s formation, across all district and taluka levels.

Furthermore, the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar Divisional Commissioner has been tasked with ensuring the successful implementation of certificate distribution guidelines. This includes organizing special camps and conducting home visits over the next three months to verify and issue documents at the grassroots level. The subcommittee also confirmed that the tenure of the Justice Shinde Committee has been extended until June 30, 2027. In addition to reservation efforts, the meeting focused on strengthening the ‘Sarathi’ institution for better implementation of its welfare schemes and creating a comprehensive five-year development roadmap for the Annasaheb Patil Economic Development Corporation, ensuring the inclusion of necessary funding provisions for interest subvention. This integrated approach reflects the administration’s resolve to streamline bureaucratic hurdles and ensure that benefits reach the intended beneficiaries efficiently.
