The Chief Minister envisions Maharashtra evolving into a premier global regional economy by 2047, driven by a strategic focus on infrastructure, clean energy, and technological innovation
New Delhi | May 12, 2026: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asserted that Maharashtra is uniquely positioned to lead the next era of global economic growth. Speaking at a two-day conference organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in New Delhi, the Chief Minister highlighted that the synergy of infrastructure, innovation, talent, and institutional trust will be the deciding factor for future economic leadership. He emphasized that Maharashtra is actively building the necessary ecosystem to harness these strengths.

Addressing a distinguished gathering including CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee and President Rajiv Memani, Fadnavis stated that the current period is a defining moment for India. Amidst global geopolitical fragmentation and supply chain shifts, India is emerging as a beacon of stability. He noted that the country’s appeal lies not just in its massive market or young population, but in its ambition and capacity for rapid policy implementation. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has reshaped its global image, and Maharashtra is ready to spearhead this transformation.

By prioritizing organized urbanization and green energy, Maharashtra aims to become a central hub for the global supply chain. “Maharashtra has been the powerhouse of India for decades; now, we are preparing for the era of 2047, where the state will rank among the most significant regional economies in the world,” Fadnavis remarked. He concluded by reiterating that the state is committed to providing a stable, technology-driven environment that fosters both domestic and international investment.
