May 8, 2026 | Jaipur: Marking the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, India’s senior military leadership on Thursday issued a stern warning to Pakistan, declaring that any cross-border terror provocation would invite a decisive and forceful response. During a joint press conference held in Jaipur, senior officials from the Indian Army, Air Force and Navy reiterated that India’s commitment to peace should never be mistaken for weakness.

Air Marshal A.K. Bharti said Operation Sindoor had established a “permanent and powerful precedent” against terrorism sponsored from across the border. He asserted that India’s military actions are always precise, calculated and capable of delivering devastating impact when national security is threatened.

Former Director General of Military Operations Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai stated that the mission was never intended merely to create pressure, but to fundamentally alter the strategic environment. Calling the operation “the beginning, not the end,” he emphasized that India’s fight against terrorism would continue with greater determination in the future.

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where innocent civilians were killed. In response, Indian armed forces carried out coordinated strikes on terror infrastructure located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. According to military officials, the operation marked a major strategic shift in India’s security doctrine by demonstrating its willingness to strike terror bases across the Line of Control and international borders when required.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also praised the armed forces, saying the nation salutes the courage, precision and commitment shown by soldiers during the operation. Military leaders further highlighted the role of intelligence agencies, cyber warfare units and naval pressure tactics in ensuring the mission’s success while minimizing collateral damage.

The Defence Ministry is also reportedly expanding a dedicated drone force, with nearly 50,000 personnel undergoing specialized training to strengthen India’s future warfare capabilities.
