Pune Police Apprehend Daylight Burglars in Rasta Peth; Swift Action Leads to Recovery of Stolen Jewelry

In a commendable operation, Pune’s Samarth Police Station arrested a burglar who committed a daylight robbery in Rasta Peth. Stolen items, including gold rings and a necklace, were recovered promptly.

Pune, October 24, 2025 – In a significant breakthrough, the Samarth Police Station in Pune has successfully apprehended a burglar responsible for a daylight house break-in in the Rasta Peth area. The swift action by the police led to the recovery of stolen valuables, including two gold rings and a one-tola gold chain.

The incident occurred on October 18, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras. The victim, upon returning home, discovered that a cupboard containing cash and jewelry was broken into. Realizing the gravity of the situation, the victim promptly reported the crime to the Samarth Police Station.

Acting on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and identified the suspect as Shivaji Ramchandra Khandagale, a 29-year-old resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sangliwadi, Miraj, Sangli district. Khandagale had reportedly come to Pune for work and, during his stay, committed the burglary.

Further investigation revealed that Khandagale had a criminal record and had previously committed similar offenses in Solapur city. A case was registered against him at the Faujdar Chawdi Police Station in Solapur.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Rishikesh Rawle and Assistant Commissioner of Police Anuja Deshmane. Senior Police Inspector Umesh Gitte, Police Inspector Chetan More, and other officers from the Samarth Police Station were instrumental in the successful execution of the operation.

The arrest of Khandagale and the recovery of stolen items have been hailed as a testament to the competence and efficiency of the Pune Police. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents by taking swift and decisive action against criminals.
