Royal Challengers Bengaluru successfully defended their Indian Premier League crown after registering a commanding five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The triumph marked RCB’s second straight title and established the franchise among the elite teams to have won back-to-back IPL championships.

Chasing a target of 156, Bengaluru displayed composure and confidence throughout the run chase. Virat Kohli once again rose to the occasion, producing an unbeaten 75 off 42 deliveries and guiding his side home with 12 balls remaining.

The veteran batter also recorded the fastest fifty of his IPL career, reaching the milestone in just 25 balls. His innings featured a blend of controlled aggression and calculated stroke play, keeping Gujarat’s bowling attack under constant pressure.

RCB received an early boost through an attacking partnership between Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer, who contributed a quickfire 32. Although Gujarat briefly fought back through Rashid Khan’s wickets, Bengaluru’s batting depth ensured there were no major setbacks during the chase.

Tim David’s valuable contribution further supported Kohli as the defending champions comfortably crossed the finish line.Earlier, Gujarat Titans struggled to build momentum after being asked to bat first. RCB’s disciplined bowling attack, led by Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rasikh Salam, restricted Gujarat to 155 for eight.

Early wickets put the Titans under pressure, while Washington Sundar’s fighting half-century proved insufficient to lift the total to a more competitive score.

The victory further strengthened Bengaluru’s growing legacy and highlighted the team’s consistency across consecutive seasons. Captain Rajat Patidar joined an exclusive list of leaders to win multiple IPL trophies, while Kohli once again reaffirmed his status as one of the league’s defining performers. As celebrations erupted among thousands of travelling supporters, RCB’s golden era continued with yet another championship-winning campaign.
