Three Generations of Ikram Khan's Family Continue Serving Warkaris

For over nine decades, the Ikram Khan family has been serving Warkaris during the annual Ashadhi Wari in Pune, reflecting a lasting tradition of communal harmony, selfless service and social unity across generations.

Pune | July 10, 2026: As thousands of Warkaris arrive in Pune for the annual Ashadhi Wari pilgrimage, countless individuals and organisations come forward to support the devotees with food, water and other essential services. Among them, the Khan family from Yerawada has continued a remarkable tradition of serving Warkaris for three generations, symbolising the spirit of communal harmony and selfless service.

At Golf Chowk in Yerawada, entrepreneur and Captain of Pune Golf Club, Ikram Khan, along with his family members and associates, organised food, drinking water, refreshments and other essential facilities for the pilgrims passing through the city. The initiative witnessed active participation from several members of the family, who worked together to ensure that devotees received timely assistance during their journey.

The family’s association with the Wari dates back to 1932. Ikram Khan’s grandfather, Mosa Khan, and father, Isa Khan, were known for their consistent participation in community service during the pilgrimage. They were also actively associated with the annual Ram Navami celebrations at the Ram Temple in Ramwadi, strengthening bonds of mutual respect and harmony between different communities.

Continuing this legacy, Ikram Khan and his son, Ahad Ikram Khan, have carried forward the family’s commitment to public service through various social initiatives. Their continued participation in serving Warkaris has earned appreciation from local residents, devotees and members of different sections of society.

The family’s efforts have been widely recognised as an example of how compassion, mutual respect and service can transcend religious and social boundaries. At a time when the values of unity and coexistence are increasingly significant, their longstanding tradition stands as a reminder that humanitarian service remains one of the strongest foundations of social harmony.

As the Ashadhi Wari continues to bring together lakhs of devotees from across Maharashtra, initiatives like these reinforce the inclusive spirit that has long been associated with the historic pilgrimage.
