Pimpri-Chinchwad Police bust prostitution racket operating under guise of Rich Feel Spa; 3 women rescued and two men booked under BNS & PITA.

Pune | 27 March, 2026: In a decisive crackdown on illegal prostitution activity, the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police on Wednesday raided the ‘Rich Feel Spa’ at Samrat Chowk in Pimpri, unearthing what authorities say was a prostitution racket operating under the cover of a legitimate wellness centre. Acting on specific intelligence, the unit launched the operation under senior supervision and successfully rescued three women allegedly being exploited for sex work at the spa, police said.

According to official police sources, the raid followed credible inputs that the spa was being used as a front for running a prostitution network. The operation was led by Senior Police Inspector Nitin Gite of the AHTU, with support from teams under Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shivaji Pawar and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime-1) Vishal Hire. Upon entering the premises, officers located the women and secured their release before proceeding to detain the key personnel allegedly operating the illegal enterprise.

Two men have been booked in connection with the racket: spa operator Mayur Dinesh Mohite (26), a resident of Dighi, and spa manager Akshay Mahadev Sutar (26), who lives in Nigdi and originally hails from Kolhapur. While Sutar has been arrested under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA), police continue to question both accused as part of their ongoing investigation.

Sources indicate this raid was part of a broader enforcement campaign against illicit prostitution rackets operating under the guise of spas, massage parlours, and hotels throughout the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate limits. Authorities say the AHTU has intensified these operations in recent months following directives from Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey to clamp down on human trafficking and related crimes.

So far in 2026, police have conducted operations at eight establishments-six spas and two hotels-leading to the arrest of 20 accused individuals and the rescue of 17 victimised women, officials said. This is part of a larger pattern of enforcement that saw the closure of 29 similar establishments over the past three years under provisional police orders, some of which have been sealed for one year pending further inquiries.

Local authorities emphasised that such prostitution rackets not only violate the law but also pose significant social and human rights concerns. “These actions are aimed at dismantling exploitative networks that use seemingly legitimate businesses as fronts for illegal activities,” a senior police official said, urging the public to report suspicious operations to law enforcement. (Paraphrased from police statements.)

The three women rescued during the raid are being provided support by police and are expected to be referred to appropriate welfare and rehabilitation services as the investigation progresses. Meanwhile, law enforcement has pledged continued vigilance and additional raids as part of its commitment to crack down on human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation across the region.

This latest action reflects a growing emphasis by authorities to monitor and regulate establishments that can be misused for illegal activities, especially those exploiting vulnerable women. Community-level cooperation and prompt reporting from the public have also been credited with helping police identify and target such illegal operations more effectively.
