April 9, 2026 | Pune The second edition of the Pune Grand Tour, an international-standard cycling competition that has already placed the city on the global sporting map, is set to take place from January 26 to 31, 2027, across Pune district. The event will commence on Republic Day and conclude on a Sunday, a strategic decision aimed at minimizing inconvenience to residents. District Collector Jitendra Dudi said the planning has been structured to ensure that citizens can enjoy the event without disruption to their daily routines. The announcement was made during a preliminary review meeting focused on route planning, traffic management, and logistical arrangements.
The six-stage race will cover diverse routes showcasing Pune’s urban, historical, and natural landscapes. The opening stage will run from the International Convention Centre in Moshi to Hinjawadi, offering a blend of the city’s IT hub and the scenic Mulshi region. Subsequent stages will pass through Baramati, Saswad, Junnar, Rajgurunagar, Alandi, Lonavala, and Khandala, before concluding from PCMC to Bal Gandharva Rang Mandir in Pune. Authorities have emphasized that the event is not just a sporting competition but a platform to highlight the district’s cultural heritage and tourism potential. Locations such as Sinhagad, Saswad, and the Lonavala-Khandala ghats are expected to add visual appeal and international attention to the race.

Comprehensive arrangements are being made for traffic regulation, security deployment, medical support, and volunteer management. Officials have assured that proactive planning will help avoid major congestion issues during the event period. Following the success of its previous edition, the Pune Grand Tour 2027 is expected to be larger in scale and better organized. The administration believes the event will significantly boost tourism, promote sports culture, and contribute to the local economy while strengthening Pune’s position on the global cycling circuit.
