Father dies, 13-year-old daughter injured in tragic collision on Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Pune Highway
On Wednesday morning, a tragic accident on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Pune Highway claimed the life of a 45-year-old motorcyclist. His 13-year-old daughter, riding pillion, was seriously injured in the collision.

Sambhajinagar, 28 November 2025: On Wednesday morning, a tragic accident on the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar–Pune Highway claimed the life of a motorcyclist and seriously injured his 13-year-old daughter. The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Babusingh Sobaksingh Maher, a resident of Pendapur, while his daughter Anchal sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.
According to police reports, Babusingh and Anchal were travelling from Dhoregaon to Chalisgaon when a container truck reportedly lost control and struck their motorcycle head-on near Jikthan Phata. The impact was severe, and despite prompt first-aid and medical attention, Babusingh succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The timing of the collision—early morning hours—has reignited public concern about heavy-vehicle safety on highways. Local residents and commuters say that reckless driving by heavy vehicles, lack of proper lane discipline, and poor enforcement contribute to frequent accidents on this stretch.
A case under relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act has been registered at Waluj Police Station. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and are examining whether speeding or negligence contributed to the crash.
The tragic incident has triggered grief and outrage across the community. Neighbours and relatives have appealed for stricter regulation of heavy vehicles, better road safety measures, and stricter enforcement to prevent such fatal accidents in future.
