Major Political Shock: Raghav Chadha Allegedly Quits AAP, Seven Rajya Sabha MPs Set to Join BJP

A major political storm has reportedly erupted in national politics, with AAP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha said to have resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party and initiated a dramatic split within the party.
New Delhi,April 24, 2026: ccording to the claims, Chadha announced his decision during a press conference in Delhi, stating that he was “a right person in the wrong party,” while launching a sharp attack on Arvind Kejriwal over leadership style and declining internal values. He is reportedly not alone, with 7 out of 10 AAP Rajya Sabha MPs allegedly backing his move to merge with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Names being linked to this alleged shift include Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Swati Maliwal, Rajendra Gupta, and Vikram Sahney.
Observers point to the anti-defection law, which allows a group of two-thirds members to avoid disqualification, as a possible legal basis for such a move—if it were to occur.
The reported rebellion is said to have roots in internal tensions, particularly after Chadha was removed from the post of deputy leader in the Rajya Sabha earlier this month and replaced by Ashok Mittal. At the time, Chadha had hinted at a bigger response, warning that his silence should not be mistaken for weakness.

In his alleged remarks, Chadha is said to have accused the party of abandoning its founding principles and sidelining intellectual voices. He reportedly claimed that his decision to align with the BJP was driven by a desire to connect more directly with the public and pursue a broader political vision.
If true, this development would mark one of the biggest setbacks for AAP, potentially altering the balance in the Rajya Sabha and reshaping political dynamics ahead of upcoming elections in Delhi and Punjab.
While the claims suggest a dramatic political realignment, there is currently no confirmed evidenc supporting such a development. Until verified by official statements or credible sources, this should be treated with caution.
