Wednesday, April 29, 2026 | Pune: In a significant social gathering that has set political circles abuzz, the extended Pawar family converged at ‘Modibaug,’ the Pune residence of veteran leader Sharad Pawar, for a formal dinner on Tuesday. This marks the first major family gathering since the conclusion of the Baramati assembly by-election, a contest that saw various factions of the family’s political legacy face off in a heated campaign.

The gathering saw the attendance of several key family members, including Pratibha Pawar, Prataprao Pawar, and MPs Supriya Sule and Parth Pawar. Also present were MLA Rohit Pawar, Abhijit Pawar, Rajendra Pawar, Shrinivas Pawar, Jayant Pawar, and Rajni Indulkar. However, the absence of Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar and Jay Pawar was notable. Sources close to the family clarified that Sunetra Pawar remained in Mumbai for a pre-scheduled cabinet meeting, while Jay Pawar is currently traveling abroad.

The meeting comes at a sensitive time. During the recent election cycle, Rohit Pawar’s comments regarding a potential “Pawar vs. Pawar” showdown in 2029 had sparked intense debate about the permanence of the family’s political divide. While the dinner was initially viewed through a political lens, insiders have been quick to dismiss such rumors.

According to sources close to the Sharad Pawar camp, the primary objective of the evening was purely celebratory and personal. The family reportedly met to discuss the logistical planning and arrangements for the upcoming wedding of Revati Sule, daughter of MP Supriya Sule. “This was a traditional family dinner intended to bring everyone together for Revati’s wedding preparations. No political strategies or party matters were on the table,” a family associate stated. Despite the disclaimer, the sight of Parth Pawar who represents the Ajit Pawar faction attending a dinner hosted by Sharad Pawar has kept political analysts guessing about a potential “family first” approach toward future reconciliation.
