The SEC has extended the deadline for filing objections to the draft voter list for the PCMC elections to December 3 2025; key dates and what residents should know.

Pune|November 29, 2025: The deadline for filing objections to the draft ward-wise voter list for the upcoming Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections has been extended to December 3, 2025. The earlier deadline of November 27 saw a high number of correction requests, prompting authorities to offer additional time for residents to verify their details. The draft voter list is available for inspection at all seven regional offices in the city, and residents can submit objections at dedicated counters set up across the municipal limits.

Officials explained that the extension was necessary due to the volume of discrepancies reported in the draft list. Many residents flagged issues such as incorrect addresses, names appearing in wrong wards, missing entries and duplicate listings. Similar patterns have been observed recently in other urban areas across Maharashtra, where thousands of objections were filed within days of draft lists being released. The growing number of corrections has made it clear that more time was needed to ensure the accuracy of the electoral roll before the civic polls.

Residents can purchase the draft list at a nominal cost and verify their names either individually or ward-wise. Once the objection process closes on December 3, scrutiny of all correction requests will begin immediately. The updated election schedule now states that the final voter list will be published on December 10, 2025, followed by the release of ward-wise polling-station lists on December 15, and the complete polling-station-wise voter lists on December 22.

Officials emphasised that a clean and accurate voter list is the foundation of a fair municipal election. Errors in the draft list could result in eligible voters being excluded, assigned to the wrong polling booths or facing complications on voting day. The extended window aims to ensure that every eligible resident gets a fair chance to verify their information and make corrections if needed.

The process for filing objections remains simple. Residents can visit the nearest ward office and submit correction forms with supporting documents. Online options are also available for those who prefer digital submissions. Authorities have urged citizens not to wait until the last day, as submissions after December 3 will not be accepted under any circumstances.

As preparations continue, the coming weeks will be crucial. Once the final list is out, election teams will begin the next phase of planning, which includes booth setup, staff deployment, voter awareness campaigns and logistical arrangements. With the PCMC elections approaching, the accuracy of the voter list will play a key role in ensuring smooth polling and higher participation.

In conclusion, extending the deadline for objections provides residents with more time to correct errors and strengthens the integrity of the election process. The updated timeline ensures that both voters and officials can prepare adequately before PCMC enters its next electoral cycle.
