FIR Filed Against BJP Workers After Violent Clash in Pimpri-Chinchwad; State Youth President Anup More Named

Police file FIR after clash among BJP workers in Pimpri-Chinchwad; State Youth President Anup More named as accused in escalating party dispute.
Pune,October 29, 2025 – A political clash among Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Pimpri-Chinchwad has taken a serious turn after police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against multiple party members, including State BJP Yuva Morcha President Anup More. The confrontation, which occurred earlier this week, has stirred internal tensions within the local party unit ahead of the civic elections.
The FIR was filed after a complaint was lodged by BJP Mahila Morcha State Secretary Tejaswini Kadam, who alleged that she was verbally abused, threatened, and assaulted by party workers. According to the complaint, Kadam had gone to meet an acquaintance at Gawade Park in Chinchwad when she was confronted by a group of individuals allegedly acting under instructions from Anup More. The group reportedly intimidated her, blocked her exit, and warned her of consequences if she continued to attend certain political events.
Kadam further stated that when she approached the Chinchwad Police Station to register her grievance, two of the accused assaulted and verbally abused her inside the police premises. She alleged that after leaving the station, she was again confronted by a mob outside that issued further threats.
Police have booked the accused under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including those relating to assault, intimidation, and unlawful assembly. The named accused include Anita Krishna Tipale, Ekveera Sharif Khan, Pravin Yadav, Ashish Raut, Gaurav Gole, Sagar Ghorpade, Jayesh More, and Anup More. Officials confirmed that Anup More’s name was added later following initial verification and statements recorded during the preliminary probe.
Investigating officers said that the inquiry is ongoing and that all allegations will be independently verified. “Statements from both sides have been taken, and evidence including CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts are being examined,” a senior police official said. Authorities are expected to summon the accused for further questioning in the coming days.
Anup More has publicly denied all allegations, calling them politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing his reputation. He maintained that he had no involvement in the incident and claimed that “false narratives” were being created to damage his political image ahead of the elections.
The clash is seen as a reflection of rising internal discord within the party’s local unit, where factional rivalries have reportedly deepened over organisational control and candidate positioning for the upcoming civic polls. Party observers noted that the incident could lead to disciplinary action or mediation efforts by senior BJP leaders to prevent further public embarrassment.
Local political analysts have also pointed out that such internal disputes, when they spill into the public domain, can weaken voter trust and give rival parties an advantage. In the politically active Pimpri-Chinchwad region, where electoral margins are often narrow, any sign of division within major parties can have significant consequences.
