PCMC intensifies action against illegal hoardings in Pune; multiple unauthorised advertisement structures dismantled across key areas.

Pimpri-Chinchwad, April 24, 2026: In a fresh enforcement push, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has intensified its crackdown on illegal hoardings and unauthorised advertising structures across the city. Several such billboards were dismantled on Thursday as part of an ongoing drive to regulate urban spaces and improve civic safety.

The action was carried out by the civic body’s Sky Signs and Licensing Department, which has been actively targeting hoardings installed without prior permission. Officials emphasized that under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act and the state’s Advertisement Regulation Rules, installing hoardings—even on private land—requires mandatory approval from the municipal authority.

During the latest drive, authorities removed two large illegal hoardings measuring 20×20 feet at Katalewasti in Kiwale, along with another unauthorised advertising board near Morya Gosavi Temple in Chinchwad. These structures were found to be in violation of licensing norms and were dismantled using civic enforcement teams.

Civic officials have issued a strict warning to advertising agencies, businesses, and property owners, stating that any hoardings erected without permission will face immediate removal and legal action. The administration has made it clear that enforcement will continue without leniency as part of a broader effort to maintain planned urban development.

Municipal Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi highlighted that such drives are not just about enforcement but also about ensuring public safety and maintaining the city’s visual order. Illegal hoardings, apart from being unauthorised, often pose structural risks and contribute to visual clutter in rapidly growing urban areas.

This action comes amid a wider civic push against encroachments and unauthorised constructions in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Authorities have indicated that inspections will be intensified, and similar drives will be carried out regularly to ensure compliance with regulations.

The crackdown on illegal hoardings signals PCMC’s stricter stance on urban discipline and safety. With continued enforcement, the civic body aims to create a more organised and secure city environment while sending a strong message against unauthorised advertising practices.
